of his previous letters to the Texas Company when he confirmed his tele- graphic acceptance to sign this contract Jointly with my Company, from which contract you (in London) desire to oust us; and it does indeed sppear over here as if the generous terms, which your Hongkong partner proposes to you, are turned by you in London into the contrary forgetting the outstanding fact that the reason given by you in London for desiring our exclusion from this, our own, contract (and which rea- son you have been careiul enough not to put on paper), is merely a pre- text to cover your (London's) designs and attempts to out off my Oom-
